Come & learn the diversity of this sweet 4 stringed instrument. If you are just beginning, have not played in awhile, or want to improve, this 3 hr workshop is for you! Laurel will guide participants through learning/reviewing the basics and honing their skills & strums for the next level. Cost of the workshop covers a booklet with information & songs for practicing at home. Participants should bring their own ukulele in ‘C’ tuning, for consistency. In this workshop, techniques will be explored which will allow the participants to enjoy hands on experience with creating their own original handmade relief prints. Participants will experience printing on a couple of different surfaces or plates using colourful, non toxic printing inks. This workshop is suitable for adults & mature teens.
In this workshop, Iris will teach the process of creating simple armature with applied paper to build a small sculpture. She will also include the option of creating a small bowl using papier maché pulp. Hand outs will be provided & as this medium requires drying time, Iris will lead us to a point where the project could be completed at home. Iris is a very accomplished illustrator, a retired graphic design educator (18 yrs at VIU), & a passionate artist who explores a variety of mediums. We are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to learn from Iris.

Kimmer T is a contemporary easel painter & seasoned adult educator who will introduce you to the wonderful world of oil painting. Delve into colour palette, medium uses & effects, and explore the versatility of the Filbert paint brush. We will be working on a small scale with a limited palette while exploring the nuances of this fine art. A class that will set you on your own path into the timeless classic of oil painting.
Part embridery, part abstract collage, slow stitching combines colours, layers and textures in a meditative process using reclaimed fabrics & adornments to create a unique textile collage art piece. Instructional workshop covers several basic starting stitches, all levels welcome.
In this workshop, we delve into the imitation of nature through abstract artistic expression. Using vibrant magazine clippings and a collage layering technique, participants will craft stunning 3D renditions of hummingbirds. To complement the hummingbirds, we will also create beautiful flowers, further enhancing our compositions with nature’s elegance.
